The new BMW i4 M50 has become a Safety Car

The new BMW i4, in the top M50 version, will be the new Safety Car from the Moto E World Cup support championship, dedicated to electric motorcycles. The Munich model replaces the old safety car, the BMW i8.

The Speed ​​World Championship, also known as MotoGP, has since 2019 a support championship, dedicated exclusively to electric motorcycles. Its name is Moto E World Cup, and the riders compete with the motorcycles of the manufacturer Energica.

Until now, the platoon was driven by the BMW i8 safety car, but it was retired and replaced with a new zero-emission model from the Munich manufacturer. This is the i4, in the M50 version. In other words, the first all-electric Safety Car from BMW M.

The new BMW i4 M50 will take its role of Safety Car seriously on the occasion of the Austrian Grand Prix, a stage hosted on August 15 by the Red Bull Ring circuit.

In the M50 version, the i4 is equipped with two electric motors and has 544 horsepower. Enough to reach 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds.

The debut of the new BMW i4 is scheduled for November this year.
